Anylang Translator Privacy Policy
Data Collection and Usage
Anylang Translator is a browser translation extension. This privacy policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.
What data is collected
- Web page content: When you use the translation feature, the extension reads the text content of the web page you are currently viewing. This is necessary to provide the translation service.
- Selected text: When you use the instant lookup feature, the extension reads the text you have selected on the page.
- User settings: Your preferences (such as target language, translation mode, API provider selection) are stored locally in your browser.
- API credentials: If you choose to use a custom LLM provider, your API key is stored locally in your browser and is never transmitted to us.
How data is used
- Translation services: Web page text and selected text are sent to the translation service you have chosen (e.g., Google Translate, Microsoft Translator, or a user-configured LLM API) solely for the purpose of obtaining translations.
- Local storage: All settings, API keys, and translation caches are stored locally on your device using the browser's built-in storage APIs. We do not have access to this data.
What we do NOT do
- We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal identification information.
- We do not track your browsing history.
- We do not sell or share your data with any third parties.
- We do not run any analytics or telemetry.
Third-party services
When you use the translation feature, your text is sent to external translation services based on your choice:
- Google Translate: Governed by Google's Privacy Policy
- Microsoft Translator: Governed by Microsoft's Privacy Policy
- User-configured LLM providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.): Governed by the respective provider's privacy policy
Please review the privacy policies of these third-party services before use.
