About this extension
This extension is a companion extension for the Fast Native Download Manager macOS desktop application.
No external account is required to test the extension.
Testing steps:
1. Install and run the Fast Native Download Manager macOS app.
2. Make sure the local bridge is running on http://127.0.0.1:51237.
3. Install the Firefox extension.
4. Open a page containing a downloadable file link, for example a .dmg, .zip, .mp4, .m3u8, or .mpd resource.
5. Right-click the link and choose “Download with Fast Native Download Manager”, or use the in-page “Download N” overlay when it appears.
6. The extension sends the selected URL and request context to the local desktop app, where the download confirmation window is shown.
Data handling:
- The extension does not send browsing data, cookies, headers, or URLs to any third-party server.
- Data is only transmitted to the user’s locally running desktop app through localhost / 127.0.0.1.
- Cookies, Referer, and User-Agent may be passed to the local app only to allow the desktop downloader to access the same downloadable resource the user selected in the browser.
- The extension does not collect analytics, telemetry, tracking data, or personal data for remote storage.
The declared data collection permissions are used because Firefox requires disclosure when an extension transmits browsing activity or website content outside the add-on context. In this case, transmission is limited to the local companion app on the same machine.
