- Works great until my laptop goes to sleep. Then it disconnects, and for some reason prevents Firefox from connecting to the internet at all. And since Firefox isn't connected to the internet, the extension doesn't load properly, so I can't even turn it off! I have disable the add-on to get Firefox to work, at which point I can reenable it and reconnect the proxy.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Oğuz Düz, 4 days agoI find Proton's overall service quality, server speeds, and desktop application very successful; it's a genuinely good service. However, the browser extension (Zen, Vivaldi, etc.) unfortunately does not work properly on this computer.
The moment I click connect, the extension turns "green" (connected) within milliseconds, but no pages load and it throws a "Connection Timed Out" error. I have checked all network settings and DNS configurations on my system. While other competing VPN extensions work flawlessly on the exact same system, only Proton's extension gets stuck in this fake connection loop and fails to route traffic properly at the OS layer. This extension urgently needs an update to match the quality of the overall service. Until the extension is fixed, my rating is 1 star.Developer response

We'd be happy to help once we've gained a better understanding of the problem. - Rated 2 out of 5by rumple9, 4 days agoDoesn't work with Firefox Nightly, but does work with vanilla Firefox. Would be good if they can get it working with Nightly

- Rated 5 out of 5by danok, 8 days agoif what you want is just a VPN, get this one!!! Proton is well known and it also does value privacy and its users' inputs 🙏🙏🙏 get the extension, log in, click connect and boom, thats it. i really just use it cause of age verification laws stopping me from accessing some websites, so it suits me very well 👍 thanks. plan on starting a paid thing in the future just to support Proton fr
unlike other reviews about Linux and Firefox, ive had no problems whatsoever using this VPN! im using Librewolf tho and Linux Mint, as i said, no problems here for about a month using the extension - Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 19904433, 9 days agoI'd love to see more linux compatability in the Proton suite as a whole.

- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 19947022, 13 days agoThe bad thing about protonvpn free is that it assigns you a server based on your IP. Proton may be collaborating with authorities. Something we don't know internally, and they can already know your IP. So when you connect you are assigned to a free server but what you don't know who is connected to that server can be you alone or with other people. Another thing is that it uses VPS, dedicated servers are in England, we all know that England is an ally of the United States so draw your conclusions. What I don't understand is why one cannot choose which server to use and not that the system itself assigned me based on its preferences.

posted 11 days agoThe default Connect option will connect you to the fastest available server for you. This leads to better load balancing and higher speed, which is a priority for free users. That said, you still have the option to change server, or you can upgrade to connect to a specific server in a country of your choice.
All of the Proton VPN servers use static IP addresses, which means that the same IP address is shared between all users connected to the server, and the IP address is the same all the time for that particular server, unless the server itself is changed. However, this does not apply to the free and Secure Core servers, which are selected from a pool of servers in order to balance out the load. As for dedicated IPs, we support multiple other countries: https://proton.me/support/dedicated-server-locations.
Lastly, we're not collaborating with any authorities whatsoever. If you'd like to assure yourself of Proton VPN's trustworthiness, navigate to https://protonvpn.com/blog/is-protonvpn-trustworthy for more details. We have a strict no-logs policy protected by Swiss law, and we are open-source and undergo regular third-party audits of our services. Developer response

I'd love it if they added a feature to turn on for specific websites.
